Account Setup

The Account Setup Wizard provides a quick and easy way to set up a subaccount for a website, including pricing options and a standard Signup Form for CCBill accounts. After completing the wizard and posting your standard form code, additional Signup Forms for this subaccount can be set up and customized by clicking Account Admin, selecting this subaccount, and then using the Form Admin link located in the Selection Pane.

The wizard permits the setup of basic options for a new subaccount. Follow the instructions on each page of the wizard until the subaccount setup sequence is complete. The sequence of the (Sub) Account Setup Wizard is displayed in the Selection Pane and permits monitoring subaccount setup progress.

Subaccount Setup Wizard Options

To Setup a New Subaccount:

  1. Each page of the wizard permits the establishment of specific options when creating a new subaccount. Click Next to proceed to the next step and choose a new subaccount number.
  2. The New Subaccount #field displays the next available subaccount number. Several successive pages of the Create Subaccount wizard will follow.
  3. Click Prev to return to the previous wizard page.

The New Subaccount # field already contains the next available number; edit the field if required.

Click Next to advance to the next page.

2. Website Info

The Website Info area allows you to enter the main information for the subaccount such as the merchandise explanation, correspondence email address, and web locations.

  • Homepage URL - The Internet address, base web location, or website for this subaccount's home page. For example, http:// www.yourwebsite.com. To change the home URL, contact Merchant Support.
  • Product Description - A brief description of the product or membership sold on your subaccount website.
  • Merchant Contact Email - The main email address where we will send all correspondence.
  • Approval URL - We will link the consumer to this web location after a successful signup. This is typically the members area or a purchase receipt. The Approval URL must be specified, if the subaccount will be processing transactions through our system.
  • Denial URL - The URL for the webpage to be displayed after a consumer's purchase has been declined. Typically this is an alternate billing method such as a dialer or secondary credit card processor, which gives consumers a different way to pay for their memberships. Our system will automatically redirect your customers to this URL address after an unsuccessful signup.
  • Opt Out URL - The web location of the page to send consumers when they click the Cancel Transaction button on the Confirmation page . Only enter information in the Opt Out URL field if you plan to use the Confirmation page with Cancel Transaction enabled on the page. The Opt Out URL feature is disabled by default for new subaccounts. Please send an email to Merchant Support for assistance.★
  • Tour URL - If you wish to offer subscribers a promotional sale with either a link on the Signup Form , or a promotional sale popup box, enter the URL for the webpage to be displayed after they click to learn more about the promotional sale. This should ideally be the first page of the tour for this website. Often this is the Home URL of one of the subaccounts.

★Contact Merchant Support to have the Confirmation options activated. After CCBill has activated the Confirmation options, go to the Form Admin area of the Tools section and click Layout in the Update Form Selection Pane to enable the Opt Out feature.

3. User Management

User Management refers to the criteria that control and secures your members/ consumer authentication data. Usernames and passwords control the access to the members' area of the website. Below is the default criterion you previously set up for your Account's User Management.

To continue utilizing this type of User Management for the subaccount, click Next >>.

To utilize a different type of User Management for this subaccount, click the Modify button. The Modify page allows you to alter the User Management settings.

4. Installation Options

In this area, you may choose to have CCBill set up the installation or perform your own installation:

  • Self Installation - Your organization handles the installation and our technical support staff emails you a zipped file containing the proper script files and a step-by-step installation guide.
  • CCBill Installation - CCBill handles the installation of the subaccount and confirms that the Signup system is performing correctly.

Use the radio buttons to select the installation type. If you choose to perform your own installation, click the Self Installation radio button.

If you choose to have CCBill perform your installation, click the CCBill Installation radio button to display a page requesting the information CCBill needs to perform the installation.

Click the Next >> button to continue.

5. Save and Quit

Use this page to finish or continue the billing options account setup. If you decide to quit at this point, the subaccount options may be completed at a later time in the Pricing Admin and Form Admin.

At this point, our team has everything it needs to set up your subaccount. All newly created subaccounts require subaccount review and installation prior to accepting real transactions. We attempt to review, approve and install all accounts within a 72-hour period from when they are submitted.

Weekends and financial holidays may extend this review period. Please be aware that it may be necessary for us to contact you for additional information during that time period.

To make changes to the information you provided for this subaccount, click << Prev. To use the Subaccount Setup Wizard to complete the setup of your pricing options and form set up for this subaccount, click Proceed. To return to the Account Admin area, where the advanced admin features can be used to further customize the subaccount, click Finish.

This will open the download Index Page. Click the Finish button again to open the View Subaccount Info page.

6. Pricing Options

Select Pricing Option Type permits a choice of billing options for the Signup Form. The options determine the payment amounts, subscription periods, and billing types available to the consumer. Choosing Single Billing Type opens a screen to append the one-time choices. Choosing Recurring Billing Type opens a screen to append the recurrent choices.

Setup as many pricing options as required for this subaccount. To start your pricing, choose from one of the pricing options.

  • Single Billing Type – This sets up the one time billing options. The service charges the consumer the amount only once.
  • Recurring Billing Type – This sets up the recurrent billing options. The service charges the consumer the initial amount during the first signup. The consumer is rebilled after the initial period for the recurring amount and continues to be rebilled every recurring period until cancellation. The consumer's subscription information is automatically removed from your site after the final billing ends.

Subscription Service Type

Three Subscription Service Types are available to you only under the following circumstances:

  • You are using the DataLink Extract services.
  • You have enabled the Merchant Driven Settlement service by contacting merchant support.

If you meet these requirements you will have the following options available to you under the Subscription Service Types drop-down menu:

  • Standard Billing - no changes to your existing system.
  • Merchant Driven Settlement – Auth - ”r;Auth” transactions have a Next Payment Date (rebill) based on the date of the consumer’s initial pre-approval.
  • Merchant Driven Settlement – Capture - ”r;Capture” transactions have a Next Payment Date (rebill) based on the date of the Merchant-Driven Settlement (the date the funds were actually taken from the consumer’s account.

Subaccount Setup Single Billing

Select Single Billing Type from the Pricing Options page to display the Single Billing Type page where you can set up the one-time billing options.

Setup the one-time billing options. The service charges the consumer the amount only once.

Field List (Add Single Billing Type)

  • Price - Enter the amount to bill the consumer. The cost for the one time subscription is in U.S. dollars.
  • Period - Enter the length of time you allow access to the content. The duration or length of the subscription is measured in days.

Subaccount Setup Recurring Billing

Select the Recurring Billing Type from the Pricing Options page to display the Recurring Billing Type page.

Setup the recurrent billing options. The service charges the consumer the initial amount during the first signup. The consumer is rebilled after the initial period for the recurring amount and continues to be rebilled every recurring period until cancellation. The system removes the consumer from your site after the final billing period ends.

Enter the following information:

  • Initial Price - Enter the amount to bill the consumer during first signup. The initial price of the subscription is in U.S. dollars.
    Tip: To setup a trial subscription, ensure that the initial price is higher or lower than the recurring price.
  • Initial Period - Enter the amount of time to allow a consumer to have access to the site before rebilling the first time. This can be referred to as the trial period.
  • Recurring Price - Enter the amount to bill the consumer for each rebilling period. The cost of the subscription is in U.S. dollars.
  • Recurring Period - Enter the amount of time to allow access to the content before rebilling.
  • Rebills - Enter the number of times for the subscription recurrence. For example, to rebill a consumer every month for a year, set the recurring period to 30 days and number of rebills to 12.
    Click the Indefinitely radio button to rebill an unlimited number of times; click the radio button next to the time(s) field to enter the number of times you wish to rebill. When rebill is set to 99, the frequency is an unlimited number of times.

Subaccount Setup Telephone Billing

CCBill no longer offers Telephone Billing. The information below is intended for merchants who have had Telephone Billing before the option was retired.

After selecting Telephone Billing from the Pricing Options page, the New Telephone Billing Pricing Option setup page is displayed where various options may be selected.
Setup the Telephone Billing Payment options. The system charges the consumer this amount.
New Telephone Billing Option List:

  • Price - Select a predefined amount that the consumer will be billed. The cost for the phone call is in U.S. dollars. Each price is associated with a different phone number that consumers can call.
  • Period - Enter the amount of time you allow access to the content. The duration or length of the subscription is measured in days.

Billing Overview

The Billing Overview page allows you to add and delete Single, Recurring, and/or Telephone billing options for the subaccount. The billing types entered here are used later in the subaccount setup.

  • Single Billing - These are the current one time billing options you offer for a specified number of days. The service charges subscribers the price only once.
  • Recurring Billing - These are the recurring billing options you offer. The service charges subscribers the initial price during their first sign up. After the initial period, subscribers are rebilled for the recurring price and continue to be rebilled every recurring period until cancellation. The service removes the subscribers from the site after their final billing period ends.
  • Telephone Billing - These are your available telephone billing options.

The Single, Recurring, and Telephone Billing areas have the same fields as those outlined in the Single Billing Type and Telephone Billing sections except for the following:

  • ID – Each billing type has a unique Subscription Type ID. The ID is automatically assigned by CCBill.
  • Trial – For recurring billing only.

An initial period greater than or less than the Recurring Period suggests that the subscription has a trial period, indicated by a Y in the Trial field. An initial period equal to the Recurring Period suggests that the subscription does not have a trial period; there will be an N in the Trial field.

Click Create New Pricing Option to add a new billing type.

To delete a billing type, select the appropriate Delete checkbox and click Delete to remove the billing type. When finished adding or viewing the billing types, click Next >> to continue.

Once the billing options are set up, the Billing Overview page will be updated. Review the billing options before you continue.

7. Subscription Pricing Order

From the subaccount's pricing options, choose which subscription type to display on the Sign Up Form for this subaccount.

The Subscription Types list on the left of the page shows the pricing options that will be available on the Signup Form.

Use the Up Arrow and Down Arrow buttons to the right of the Subscription Types list to choose the order of the pricing options on the Signup Form. The Subscription Types list on the right of the page displays the order of the subscriptions to be used for the form.

Use the Selected Price drop-down menu to choose the preferred subscription to display when the Signup Form is first loaded. The Selected Price drop-down menu does not change the order of the prices you have chosen. The price in the Selected Price drop-down menu is displayed when the consumer first views the pricing options on the Signup Form.

The consumer may choose other pricing options that you have selected after viewing the preferred subscription. Refer to topic Generate HTML for more information about how the pricing options are ordered on the Signup Form.

8. Telephone Billing Pricing Order

CCBill no longer offers Telephone Billing. The information below is intended for merchants who have had Telephone Billing before the option was retired.

From the subaccount's pricing options, choose which subscription type(s) you would like to offer for this subaccount on the Sign Up Form.

The Subscription Types list shows the pricing options that will be available to consumers on the Sign Up Form. Use the Up Arrow and Down Arrow buttons to the right of the Subscription Types list to order the pricing options in the way they will be listed on the Sign-Up Form.

The Subscription Types drop-down menu on the right of the page displays the order in which the subscriptions are listed on the form.

Use the Selected Price drop-down menu to choose the subscription to be displayed when the Sign Up Form is first loaded. The selected item is displayed when the consumer first views the pricing options on the Sign Up Form; the consumer can choose the other pricing options you have selected after viewing the preferred subscription.

Refer to topic Generate HTML for more information about how the pricing options are ordered on the Sign Up Form. Choosing a Selected Price does not change the order of the Subscription Types you have selected.

9. Setup Form Layout

The Form Layout page allows you to select the arrangement of the components for the Signup Form.

Choose the layout that you would like to use for this subaccount. The forms available include the standard options. Click on a thumbnail to see a larger image and open the form in a separate window.

Click the appropriate radio button for the design option, then click Next to continue.

10. Setup Form Theme

The Form Theme page allows you to select the look and feel for the Signup Form.

Which theme would you like to use for your Signup Form? Click on a thumbnail to see a larger image and open the form in a separate window.

Click Next to continue.

11. Setup Index Page

The Index Page will redirect consumers to the Sign Up Form. Please choose from the standard Index page options. You may click on the thumbnail to see a larger image. To download this page to your system, click Next >> to continue. To download this page to your system, click Next to continue.

To change any portion of your form layout, theme, or index page, click << Prev to go back. To change any portion of your form layout, theme, or index page, click Prev to go back.

12. Subaccount Setup Final Instructions

The subaccount information and new Signup Form have been saved to our system. You can now download a zip file that contains a folder with the HTML and images for your index page. To download your zip file click the Download button.

IMPORTANT:

  1. All newly created accounts require a review prior to accepting real transactions. In order to conduct this review, we require access to your Members area . If your Members area is password protected, you must provide us with an active username and password so we may access your subscription-based content for review. We will attempt to review all accounts within the first 72 hours after submittal (PLEASE NOTE: weekends and financial holidays may extend this review period). There are no exceptions to this rule!
  2. If you are planning to use Merchant Emails, refer to Custom Emails for more information.
  3. The Access Information (FTP URL, FTP Username, FTP Password) or log in credentials that you provided to us in signup are used by our technical teams to conduct the initial review and the installation of your new account. In order to maintain good security practices, we suggest that you change these credentials once you receive notification that we have completed your accounts setup and initial review. If we require access to your website in the future, you will be contacted for your current website credentials.

Once downloaded, simply extract and FTP the entire CCBill folder to your server. If you do not know how to do this, contact your web hosting company for directions. For detailed instructions, review the "read me" file contained in the CCBill Folder.

If you do not wish to handle this portion of the subaccount setup and would like for CCBill to place your HTML code for your form, click the Download button and contact our support team at merchantsupport@ccbill.com. We will be happy to assist you.

After you have finished creating the new subaccount, you will be directed to the View Subaccount Info area under Modify Subaccount. This allows you to review the information you entered for the new subaccount and modify the subaccount's user management, forms, and pricing options.
